I made this flower wall art while I was watching Bones with my husband tonight…
I was inspired by this adorable felt pillow made by Kendall at Songbirds & Buttons…go check it out!
Want to know how I made it? Well sure! I’d love to tell you!
It all started with this little plaque that I bought for $0.50 at a yard sale a few weeks ago…
I then painted over it with primer and some dark purple paint…
Quick Diversion: Do you guys subscribe to “Freecycle”? I just found out about it a few weeks ago, and I get sooo many e-mails from them a day, but I got this paint for free (some unopened!) from someone who didn’t want them around the house anymore!
I also got a piece of furniture that I’d SUPER excited about refinishing! If you don’t know about Freecycle, look it up. It’s all about saving things from landfills!
So, back to my board. I painted it with that plum paint I got for free from Freecycle! Then I measured where the center of the board was, and used a bowl to make a circle around that center.
I used a template to cut heart designs out of white textured scrapbook paper (from WalMart). I laid out the hearts around the circle, and filled it in like this…
See how they’re all layered and stacked? I used hot glue to put this all together.
Once I was finished laying the hearts on, I put a cute big button in the middle, and here it is!
I am so happy with how it turned out! I have absolutely no purple in my house, so I’m going to sell it on Craigslist. If anyone’s in the Philly area…I’ll be selling it for $15! I think it would look super cute in a girl’s bedroom!

That's so cute! I like how it's a 3 dimensional flower rather than one that's just painted on. Love it!And thanks for mentioning Freecycle! I didn't know about it, but now I'm signing up pronto!
That is just super cute! So simple and cheap at the same time! Thanks for linking up to SS!Hannah @ http://youngancrafty.blogspot.com/
