Romantic Winter Vignette

If you read ANY blog, you’re reminded ALL the time that Valentines Day is coming. I love romance, and love, BUT I really don’t like pinks, reds, and hearts. I just don’t! I wanted to make a romantic, wintry, vignette to quasi-decorate for Valentines Day. Here’s how it turned out:

See that book bundle? I knocked it off for $2.75 instead of paying $25 from Ballard Designs. Here’s their books:

I can honestly say that I like mine better! (Tutorial to come tomorrow…)

The books were the only thing I spent money on for this vignette. I had the candles in other places around my house, the elephant was a yard sale purchase a few years ago ($1), the driftwood was from Cape Cod (found on the beach) and the amaryllis bulbs were a Christmas gift. They help to get my red into this display, without making it scream “Happy Valentines Day”! Here’s some more snapshots…

Simple, thrifty, and romantic. I can honestly say that I love it

Tell me – does anyone share the same feelings towards Valentines day decorating? Or am I just a big scrooge?
