It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years…
I was a sophomore in high school when I heard what happened. I went to a very small high school (graduated with 39 people). We didn’t have an announcement/PA system, so it was all word of mouth. I was in math class, and my teacher told us that it was probably was just a rumor, and wasn’t true. By the time I got to my history class, those “rumors” had been confirmed, and we all realized the horrible truth.
I live about 2 hours from the city, so this wasn’t too far from home. My grandparents live only 30 minutes outside of the NYC, so it was so scary to think of how close they were to the attacks. Although I didn’t personally know anyone who was killed during the attacks, it was still way too close to home.
