I am in love with white branches this year, so I decided to use the leftover branches from my Christmas centerpieces for my Christmas mantel this year!
I really loved the winter-y feel of just this:
But I truly believe that He is the reason for the season (cheesy I know) so I wanted to incorporate some verse, so now the sign enters:
This sign was supposed to be super easy-breezy, but it ended up being a huge pain! I bought the sign for $4 from Ross because I liked the shape, and then I spray-painted it a pretty metallic color. BUT – as you can see in the picture on the right, you could see the raised letters – dang it!
So I used mod-podge and sheet music to cover up the letters. Then I wanted to imperfectly write the verse in Sharpie, but did you know that Sharpie and mod-podge do NOT mix?! Ugh it was bad! So it ended up a LOT more imperfect than I wanted it to, but I’m learning to be OK with it. I then lightly sanded over the whole thing, and put a coat of paint mixed with glaze (like I did here). I’m not totally in love with it, but again, I’m learning to live with it.
I really love the natural elements with the ornaments (which are all from the dollar store!):
I used cut fresh juniper to keep with the natural theme, and I’m loving how it ties it all together and grounds the whole display:
The middle vase is from Michaels, and the vases on the sides were from the Dollar Store (I used them in my fall display too):
You could easily do this yourself! Use any glass containers you have, grab some sticks from your backyard (or go to a park), paint them, and add some ornaments and greens!
