When we got married, my husband and I brought our childhood stockings with us to our new house. For our fourth married Christmas together, we finally decided to make our own “adult” stockings for our little family of 3 (yes, I do count our dog as a family member!):
Since we don’t have a mantel, I used some Command hooks on the window instead. That lighted garland was bought from Target our first Christmas together.
Each of these stockings were from the Dollar Store –
I just embellished them with things I already had around the house! The best thing is everything is just held on by hot glue – no sewing required!
I hot-glued some muslin under the stocking flap for my stocking, and I made some rosettes out of the muslin as well:
I hot-glued a thick blue ribbon onto my hubby’s, and then cut burlap to embellish it a little more (thank goodness the hubby’s OK with a “flower” on his stocking!):
I added the monograms with a thin, stiff paintbrush and some paint. Nothing fancy!
I love how they look on our window, and next to our “faux-mantel“:
