I’ve been seeing ideas on Pinterest for super cute dipped wooden spoons, so I decided to try my hand at it for part of a bridal shower gift. I didn’t want to do just one color, but decided to do more of a color-blocked look. Here’s what they turned out like:
They really weren’t too hard to make either! It all started with some inexpensive utensils from Wal*Mart:
I wanted these to last and not chip or flake through washings (though they should only be hand-washed) so I primed the spoons first. I taped them off and primed with spray primer:
I let those dry overnight, and then I used acrylic craft paint on the entire primed area of each spoon. I used 2-3 coats for each spoon:
Again, I let that dry overnight. The next day, I dipped the spoons into some “oops” paints I have in my stash:
I dripped and scraped the paint off so there were no “lumps” when it dried. Finally, I gave them a coat of clear polyurethane and tied them up with some cute ribbons and dish towels:
These were fun to make and I think I’ll definitely make them again!
