DIY Monogram Artwork

I feel like I’m surrounded by weddings this summer!  I have 2 weddings on the same day this summer (one of them is my brother’s!!) and I am a bridesmaid in another wedding over Labor Day weekend.  Needless to say, I am surrounded by bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and decorating!  Here’s one of the gifts I made for my friend’s bridal shower gift:

I had a lot of fun with this project!  I started with a canvas from Michaels (with a 40% off coupon of course).  I also bought these stencils from Martha Stewart (also found at Michaels) – I loooove them! I chose a gray paint I already had in my stash on the canvas.  (The bride’s colors are gray & purple)

I’ll be honest – it took a while!  I’m not very patient with crafts, so that part wasn’t get fun.  It didn’t turn out perfectly either, but I figured it was good enough  

I made a monogram on iPiccy and projected it until it was the right size by using my projector in my classroom (after school of course)!! 

I traced around the edges of the letters lightly with pencil:

Then I filled the letters in with this fun paint pen.  After one coat, it looked like an elementary school project. 

Thankfully after I gave it a second coat, it looked much cleaner! 

And it was finished!  The bride seemed to love it
