After teaching for four years, I am thinking back on some of my happiest moments in the classroom. Some of them were when I got some unprompted snuggles and an “I love you” from a child (my most favorite moments ever!!). Some of them were when a child got “it” – whatever it was that they were struggling with. But then my other favorite moments were when I put down the books, ditched the curriculum, and let the kids be KIDS and let them CREATE.
It’s amazing what kids will make when we give them some freedom to let them make something beautiful! And no, it’s not always something beautiful by our standards, but it’s so incredible to see a child take pride in their art!
GAP kids is hosting a series of awesome events around the country to help inspire kid’s creativity . From creating geometric masterpieces on canvas using paint and tape to colorful, custom journals to get kids ready for back-to-school, the projects help kids express their creativity!
This month, select GapKids stores in stores in across the country will host Shine On Saturdays events. Bring your child so they can get creative and unleash their inner artist! Join GAP kids for a series of special art projects by Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag. (seriously guys, check out her website for some super-inspiring and creative kids stuff!!)
Here’s a short video with just a taste of what will take place at these Shine On events – SUPER FUN & CUTE!!
Designed by Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag, the projects were inspired by the GapKids and babyGap fall collection, including the best new 1969 denim – Jewel Box Skinnies for girls (the new skinny jean updated in bright stretchy denim) and Action Stretch Denim for boys (designed for play all day- it’s denim that’s made to move).
I know there’s 3 GAP kids locations that are holding these events near my area (Philadelphia). Here’s the locations:
