I’m just going to be honest – it’s hard being a new parent. I am so blessed to have many girlfriends in the same stage of life as me – we all agree that being a new mom is exhausting. I’m trying hard to work on meeting my little guy’s basic needs (which isn’t always easy with a difficult nurser and a power-napping baby), but now I have a whole new world opened up to me: toys. It’s SO much fun to see Isaac start to really take in the world around him, and he suddenly gets so excited about the toys we have for him in the house. The problem is – we don’t have too many.
When you’re looking to keep a very active baby interested in the world around him, you like a good variety of toys. But they shouldn’t just be any toys – you want to make sure you get the right ones. You know, the ones that will stimulate his brain so he can be the rocket scientist we all know he will be when he gets older. BUT when you have a power-napping future rocket scientist baby, he doesn’t always make getting out of the house so easy. Therefore, baby toy shopping isn’t always the easiest thing to do.
See? Exhausting, I tell you.
So what’s a new mom to do? You want to buy some awesomely stimulating toys and other products for your little baby, but the thought of getting out of your yoga pants and braving the cold weather makes you freeze in your tracks.
Enter: Citrus Lane
I am SO excited I heard about this company!! I honestly think that every new mom should know about it, and I think that every friend/family member of a new mom should know about it as well. Every month, a box arrives at your door with toys, care products, books, and/or snacks specific to your child’s age group and developmental level. These toys have all been recommended by the Citrus Lane advisory board, and they have been tested by real parents for real problems.
I received a box for Isaac, and let me tell you – just getting a package is exciting enough. (I probably should get out more…) We ripped open the package right away and were greeted with this:
Super cute!! Even the packaging would brighten a tired mom’s day! Then I got even more excited when I saw what was in my box:
It felt like Christmas morning – in November!! Isaac got some adorable bath toys, a teether (thank goodness – he’s been putting everything into his mouth lately!!), gripe water (which helps soothe stomach discomfort – something we know far too much about in this house!), and my favorite – the cutest wooden elephant rattle ever!
We both had a lot of fun with the new toys and they helped to break up the monotony of our day:
Even if you’re not a new mom, I think this would be an incredibly thoughtful and appreciated gift for any new parents in your life. Actually – Citrus Lane makes boxes suitable for children up to 5 years old, so it would be so much fun to give this to a busy mom of a toddler as well!
If you’re not interested in the monthly box, Citrus Lane has recently opened up a “Citrus Lane Shop” – where you can shop by gender/age/category for all different kinds of products. I may have bought a few Christmas presents for my nieces and nephews… 🙂
Who can you think of in your life that could some awesomeness from Citrus Lane? I have good news – they have offered to give one of YOU a $25.00 voucher to the Citrus Lane Shop! Enter to win here (give-away winner must be a resident of the continental United States, and must be older than 18):
