Start with a book that you don’t care about. You can get books for pocket change at thrift stores, or just use a book that you already have and you know you won’t read again!
I tore out a few pages at a time, and then cut a freehand “petal”. I didn’t care about making them look perfect, and I didn’t make the exact same petal shape every time I cut out a small stack. This piece isn’t about perfection, so let go of that for a few minutes Then I folded each stack in half to add some dimension to the petals:
I used my favorite “wreath form” next – some good old cardboard cut into a circle. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done!
I added 4 petals evenly spaced around the circle- and then slowly filled in petals from there, gluing with my hot glue gun. Once you fill in the first layer, make sure that the second layer gets filled in with the points of the petals going in the space between the points of the previous layer (wow – not sure if that made any sense!! Hopefully the picture explains it better)
Then, just keep following that pattern until you’ve made it to the final layer! I did make my petals a little bit smaller for the last 2-3 layers, but again, there’s not a science to it. Make sure that the center looks pretty before you’ve finished!
I really like the dimension that the folding of the pages gives to the wreath – something so simple can make such an impact!
I also love that this project was 100% free! My favorite price tag
